Stand-Up & Improv for Teachers!

Calling all teachers! This course is a fun new way to earn Act 48 hours and to learn practical, research-based skills that can help increase student engagement.

what is it?

An Act 48 Approved Professional Development that was established from doctoral research for teachers on how to use comedy techniques used by comedians on stage to increase student engagement. See the published research here.

Who is it for?

Anyone who manages student engagement, including but not limited to teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals. 

where is it?

Check the events tab for the next scheduled class or contact us to schedule individualized training for your district. The class can be scheduled in a pre-determined location, your school/office, or virtually. 

why should i attend?

To learn and practice exercises used by comedians to help deliver course content and lesson plans entertainingly. These skills can help increase student engagement and improve classroom management. Bring your most boring lesson plans and learn to directly apply comedy fundamentals and receive immediate feedback.

In April 2022, Dr. Hankerson had the pleasure of participating in the 10th Annual West Chester University Business Idea Pitch by pitching the original "Stand-Up & Improv for Teachers!" workshop. After multiple rounds and a presentation, Dr. Hankerson's workshop won 1st place in the Graduate, Alumni, Faculty & Staff Track. Read the press release here
